Forward-Thinking Retail: Bye-Bye to Single Use

Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus

Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus and LOQI have partnered to create a collection of sustainable bags featuring an exclusive KulturKaufhaus design. Available in three sizes, the versatile KulturBeutel champions eco-conscious living with a lifetime exchange policy, highlighting durability and sustainability. To date, 150,000 bags have been distributed, replacing single-use plastic and paper bags.

The one store where we support you in overconsumption

Since 1997, Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus has been providing Berliners and visitors with what many consider essential necessities in everyday life: books, literature, music, film, and games. With 10.5 million cultural goods on-site, all of high standard and relevance, the “KulturKaufhaus” is an arts and culture department store, and for some, it may even serve as a second living room and happy place.

Deposit Carry Culture at Dussmann

All Reuse, No Tossing Out

LOQI has partnered with Dussmann to help establish their no-disposable bag policy within the store. No paper or plastic bags to carry precious art books or vinyl—just LOQI, and therefore sustainability exclusively. We are excited to be part of this pioneering step, which can certainly be seen as a model project for a retail economy free of disposables. And they’ve thought this through. The crazy thing: you can exchange these tote bags for a lifetime at Dussmann.

A Wicked Good Plan

Another great aspect of this endeavor is that 10 percent of all profits are donated to institutions, artists, and partners from the Berlin arts and culture community. This approach aligns perfectly with LOQI’s mission to provide cultural protagonists with resources that generate income, bringing financial support to art and cultural producers, contributing to a stable cultural sector and financial independence.

Are We Living Through a Bold Bag Renaissance?

Dussmann’s plan is to inevitably leave the whole city marked with their red bags, available in three sizes: S for your favorite novel, M for the records that makes you rock the living room, and L for the hungry and cultural feasts.
