A Museum Shaped by Stories
Guided by founders George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the Lucas Museum reflects their shared vision of an institution dedicated to the power of storytelling through images. Think Hollywood magic meets comic-book heroes, legendary paintings, and illustrations that shaped generations. From Frida Kahlo to Snoopy. From Norman Rockwell to Star Wars. And there's more: original Flash Gordon comics, illustrations by N. C. Wyeth, fantasy paintings by Frank Frazetta, photography by Gordon Parks, and even Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder. Art tells stories. Take them with you.

George Lucas: The Man Who Dreamed Up a Galaxy
In 1977, he introduced the world to Star Wars, changing movie history forever. Behind the spaceships, lightsabers, and legendary characters was something even bigger: a lifelong love of visual storytelling.
George was collecting art, too. An original comic illustration of Alley Oop ws his first purchase, a time-traveling caveman, for around $30. Over the next 50 years, his passion grew into a collection of more than 40,000 artworks.
"Narrative art tells the story of a society—what the common beliefs are that hold it together." — George Lucas
A spaceship? A sculpture? A museum!
Landing in the heart of Los Angeles, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art looks like something straight out of a science-fiction movie. That's no coincidence. Designed by Chinese architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, the futuristic building features sweeping curves, a floating silhouette, and a spaceship-like shape that feels right at home in the universe of Star Wars.
